Greenhouse School Holding Fall Festival on Saturday
Greenhouse School Fall Festival urges buyers to 'shop close to home.'

“Food, fine crafts, and family fun” is the slogan Greenhouse School officials attach to their annual Fall fundraiser. The independent pre K - 8th school in Salem holds its Fall Festival on the school grounds at 145 Loring Avenue in Salem; this year’s date is November 7. Per tradition, the festival will include a raffle, auction, kids’ game room and all the rest, and of course the clever and creative handiwork of theschool’s many artists and crafter friends.
“We always try to use it not just as a fundraiser, but also to showcase how creativity is nurtured at the school,” says Director Julia Nambalirwa-Lugudde.
With buyers more cautious than ever, GHS staff knows it will be a tougher sell.
“Our pitch is ‘look, you have to buy gifts for the holidays--why not come and buy some cool, unique, handmade artsy things at a place where your purchases will make a real difference?’ We always get some great donations for the raffle and auction from local businesses,” says Welch, “including, this year, an hour massage time and gift certificates to local restaurants.”
