High-End Restaurant 'Opus' Opening Next Month

Opus is expected to open next month on Washington Street in downtown Salem.

Opus, a new upscale restaurant in downtown Salem, is expected to open for business on Washington Street in mid-July.

Mark McDonough, owner of the Serenitee Restaurant Group, said the high-end restaurant's target opening date would be sometime in July.

The Salem Arts Association issed a press release Thursday afternoon announcing that The Opus Art Gallery will be opening on July 9.

The gallery's first exhibition's theme will be "Opening" and will feature artwork from Salem Arts Association members. The Salem Arts Association's artists will retain 90 percent of the proceeds and Opus Art Gallery will donate 10 percent to the Salem Education Foundation, according to the release.

The opening reception will be held on Wednesday, July 17 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

The business' website is now up and running - and city residents interested in learning more about the restaurant's concept, menu and layout are encouraged to visit.

The name Opus, according to the website, is short for Magnum Opus, meaning one’s finest work. "Opus is the culmination of everything we have learned in creating great restaurants," the website reads.

Opus will be opening in the former Green Land Cafe space, located at 87 Washington St.
