Salem Tennis Tournament at
Saturday 8/27 and Sunday 9/11 (rain date):
This year’s Salem Tennis Tournament drew more than 40 players from all over the North Shore and beyond, including members of the Salem State University women’s and men’s tennis teams and women’s coach Joe Dunn. First place winners this year are:
Mixed Doubles: Mouncif and Isabelle Benziane from Salem, MA
Men's Doubles: Mike McQuaid from Hollis, NH and Paul Principato from Stoneham, MA
Men's Singles (Draw 1, Top Seeds): Ryo Sasaki of Salem
Men's Singles (Draw 2, Second Seeds): Justin Jaynes of Salem
Women's Singles: Nancy Watson from Lynn, MA
The tourney was organized and operated by Michele and Gifford Campbell of Salem, volunteering on behalf of Salem Park, Recreation & Community Services.
Girls Soccer Team

Salem defeated Revere 3-0 in a non-conference girls soccer game at Salem on Monday. Holbrook Phelan senior captain, center mid scored unassisted at the 21:22 minute mark of the first half. She intercepted a ball in the central mid field and carried the ball forward and shot a high arching shot over the goalkeeper who got caught out of her net.
Salem received second half goals from JR. Kayla Howland unassisted at 25:00 and sophomore Julia Jackson was assisted by sophomore Rebecca Beaulieu at 38:00.
Captain Emma Titus got her first shut out of the season with five saves on the day. Our record is now 1-1-0.
