Historic Salem Bank Building to House New Eatery: Report

What was a bank in the early 1800's will now become a player in Salem's culinary scene.

SALEM, MA — What was once one of the country's oldest financial institutions will now become a new downtown eatery, reports the Boston Herald.

Ledger, backed by Chef Matt O'Neil of Blue Ox in Lynn, will be opening at 125 Washington St. in the home of the former Salem Savings Bank building. According to the Herald, the bank was established in 1818 and was the country's second chartered savings bank.

According to the restaurant's Instagram account, the restaurant plans to open in the Summer of 2017.
