Little League Celebrates 25 Years Today

Join the parade and festivities at Forest River Park.

It's time to play ball for the 25th year in a row.

Be sure to head over to the O'Keefe Center to catch the beginning of the festivities at 10:45 a.m. Then, after the parade, head on over and join all the little leaguers for a celebration at at 11:30 a.m., where those integral to the development of the program will be honored.

"Nothing speaks like the crack of the bat and cheering crowds," Councilor-at-Large Steven Pinto said Thursday, acknowledging the 25th anniversary of Salem Little League. "What began as 20 teams of minor and major baseball teams…[now has] over 600 players."

"There's nothing better in Salem than watching a Little League game in Forest River Park," Ward 5 Councilor John Ronan added.

Salem Little League organizers were recognized Thursday at the City Council meeting, and the celebration continues today.
