Main Break Leaves South Salem Homes Without Water
The break occurred along Loring avenue and drivers are urged to avoid the area.

SALEM, MA - A water main break along Loring avenue affected water service to buildings in the South Salem area Thursday morning.
Houses from the bridge near Leggs Hill Road to Vinnin Square and side streets in that area may be without water. Police wrote on social media the water service interruptions were expected to continue through mid-morning, but there is no word yet on when the repairs will be complete.
The repairs appear to still be underway on Loring avenue, police said. This morning only one lane of Loring avenue was open but commenters on the Salem Police Department Facebook page report at least two lanes are now open. Police were unable to confirm the traffic status.
