Marlborough Road Closed Amid Salem Police Investigation Tuesday Night

SALEM, MA — A heavy police response and investigation forced the closing of Marlborough Road in Salem for more than two hours on Tuesday night.

Police said at about 5:30 p.m. that the road was temporarily shut down in the area of Outlook Avenue and Scenic Avenue for an investigation.

Residents and visitors were asked to avoid the area.

Neighbors reported on social media a large police presence with a significant show of weapons.

As of early Tuesday night, Salem police had not provided further details about the nature of the investigation.

The road was reopened to traffic at about 8 p.m.
