Children's Friend and Family Services Announces Highland Street AmeriCorps Ambassador Megan Simpson

Megan Simpson has been selected as the Ambassador of Mentoring at
Children’s Friend and Family Services (Children’s Friend). A graduate of
Salem State University, she received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology
where she founded and served as President and Public Relations Chairman
of Theta Phi Alpha Sorority. Simpson was named to the Dean’s List while
at Salem State University where she worked as an Office Assistant in the
President’s Office and as a Sales Associate in the Salem State
University Bookstore.
“Megan was selected as our top candidate because of proven success in
areas of community building, recruitment, and task management- these
skills are all necessary to building sustainable capacity to the
mentoring program. We’re so excited that she chose our program to serve.
The Highland Street AmeriCorps Ambassador of Mentoring program is
excellent and encourages both professional skill building and intensive
service to the community,” Samantha Alves, Director of Youth Mentoring
at Children’s Friend.
“Serving as Ambassador of Mentoring at Children’s Friend aligns with my
goal of working with children and youth mentoring. Everyone in the
organization is super nice and I am looking forward to working with
Samantha on helping out with the matches and building programs,” says
Simpson.

Children’s Friend and Family Services seeks volunteer mentors ages 21
and older to be matched with one youth mentee from the North Shore.
Youth are between the ages of 5 and 18, and as a mentor you would meet
every week for at least two hours to establish a one-to-one relationship
that over a year’s time matures into a genuine, caring friendship. Our

About The Highland Street AmeriCorps Ambassadors of Mentoring
The Highland Street AmeriCorps Ambassadors of Mentoring (AOMs) are
AmeriCorps members who are placed at mentoring programs and
youth-serving organizations statewide to help strengthen programs in the
areas of match support, program development, marketing, strategic
planning and mentor/mentee recruitment, mentor/mentee or parent training
and curriculum development, and program development and start-up. Our
2014-15 Corps served more than 40,000 hours at 24 host sites, impacting
nearly 10,000 youth and recruiting 325 mentors!
