Memorial Day In Salem: What You Need To Know

Patch has all the details on Memorial Day Ceremonies, plus what's open and closed on the May 28th holiday.

SALEM, MA -- Monday, May 28, is Memorial Day, and the city will be hosting its events throughout the weekend. On Sunday at 10:30 am there will be a wreath laying in the Veterans Section of St. Mary's Cemetery off North Street, followed by a cannon salute at 11 am. At noon, there will be a memorial mass at St. John's on St. Peter Street. The day's events conclude with a collation at the Polish League American Veterans Club on Daniels Street.

On Monday, the city's parade begins at 10:30 am on Commercial Street. The city is offering free trolley rides to any veteran. There will also be a ceremony at 11 am at Green Lawn Cemetery and a collation at 12:30 pm at the VFW at 95 Derby Street.

  • Trash/recycling collection: Delayed one day. Monday pickup on Tuesday, Tuesday pickup on Wednesday, etc., ending with Friday pickup on Saturday.
