Mom, Daughters Hit by Alleged Drunk Driver While Retrieving Stuffed Animal in Salem: Reports
The alleged drunk driver plead not guilty to operating under the influence, leaving the scene of personal injury and failing to yield.

SALEM, MA — A Beverly man was arraigned after being accused of crashing his car into a mother and her twin daughters while they were attempting to retrieve a stuffed animal in Salem Sunday evening, according to multiple reports
Dexter Mitchell, 52, of Beverly plead not guilty at his arraignment in Salem District Court Monday, and was ordered held on $2,500 cash bail. Mitchell plead not guilty to charges of operating under the influence, leaving the scene of personal injury and failing to yield, according to multiple media reports.
The three suffered serious injuries as a result of the crash, but the Boston Globe reports that all are expected to survive.

Multiple reports indicate that witnesses saw a red subaru pull into a nearby parking lot following the crash. Police say that Mitchell later approached police and identified himself as the driver.
As a result of the arraignment, Mitchell must submit to daily alcohol tests until he can be set up with a remote alcohol monitoring device, reports the Salem News.
