Money needed to fight against Zika virus.

503-travel associated Zika cases have been diagnosed in the US

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention reports that more 503-travel associated Zika cases have been diagnosed in the US. The infection is mild in most adults but may cause birth defects in pregnant women.

According to a Boston Globe editorial published on May 17, 2016, “money (from Congress) is not only needed for more research to understand the disease, but also to develop a vaccine and faster and better tests for Zika, as well as for mosquito control efforts”. Congress has yet to vote to appropriate funds for Zika management and research.
