SALEM, MA — Commonwealth Magazine is reporting that Jamie Zahlaway Belsito plans to run as a Democrat to challenge Rep. Seth Moulton (D-MA) in the primary when he runs for reelection this year. The report on Belsito's plans comes a day after Moulton said he was entering the race for the Democratic nomination in the 202o Presidential Election. Belsito, who was previously registered as an unenrolled voter, backed Republican Richard Tisei when he challenged Moulton in 2014.

"As the national conversation became centered on hatred and division, I proudly and purposefully became a registered Democrat," Belsito, of Topsfield, said in emailed comments to Commonwealth. Commonwealth obtained an email where Belsito outlined her plans to run for Moulton's Congressional seat in 2020 and has already registered a fundraising account with the Federal Election Commission.

Belsito founded Effie's Grace LLC, a firm that advocates for maternal and women's health issues at the state and federal level.
