Nearly 1 Million Salem Visitors Estimated For Halloween 2022
Mayor Kim Driscoll said the work to begin preparing for next year's spooky season will begin soon with feedback and long-term planning.

SALEM, MA — Estimates are that Salem welcomed nearly one million visitors to its 8-square-mile city limits during this past Halloween season.
Salem Mayor Kim Driscoll said that while official numbers won't be in for a few days, based on the number of visitors the Witch City saw up to this weekend Salem likely neared seven figures in holiday revelers or "more than half of our annual tourism visitation, all in one month."
"I can't say enough about the diligence, dedication, and public service of a large team that goes into making October the success story that it is each year," Driscoll said in a message to the community. "On behalf of the city, my thanks to our police, fire and other public safety agencies, to our public works crews, to the special events and marketing teams, and to the countless volunteers and community partners who make this month possible."

Driscoll said the work will begin on next year almost immediately with after-action reviews that will solicit public input.
"Each year, the October season is improved upon, managed better, and shaped by the years that came before and what we learned from those experiences," she said.
