New Local Singing Program for People with Parkinson's

Broadening Neurologic Benefits for North Shore Residents

Parkinson's disease can affect voice projection, swallowing, breath control, and facial muscles. Addressing these challenges through singing is often overlooked by neurologists and general physicians as a lifestyle recommendation for their Parkinson's patients.

The North Shore's Parkinson's Fitness organization, in collaboration with a board-certified neurologic music therapist, Emily Interrante, who has her own practice in the Cape Ann area, will provide a free, innovative, five-week group singing program at the Beverly Council on Aging, 90 colon Street, Beverly on Monday afternoons, August 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29 from 2:15 to 3:30 PM. No prior singing experience is necessary, and family members, friends, and other members of one's support team are invited to enjoy the sessions, too!

For information and to register, contact through www.parkinsonsfitness.org, by email at parkinsonsfitness@gmail.com, or by phone to co-founders Keith and Linda Hall at 781-572-5918.
