Next Stop On The South Salem Commuter Rail Station Express
A community meeting is set for June 18 to hear input and field questions on the proposed stop between Canal Street and Jefferson Avenue.

SALEM, MA — The proposed new South Salem Commuter Rail Station is moving down the tracks with residents invited to provide their input and ask questions about the design for the proposed stop located between Canal Street and Jefferson Avenue.
The public meeting will take place on June 18 from 6 to 8 p.m in the Salem High School auditorium.
The plan to bring a second commuter rail stop to Salem in the area of Salem State University is a collaborative effort of the city of Salem, SSU, Mass General Brigham Salem Hospital and The Salem Partnership.

The proposed location is on 30 acres of what the city said is underutilized property that can support transit-oriented development.
A federal grant has allowed for the 15 percent Conceptual Design Phase with project engineers set to attend the public meeting to present the work done so far on the design and answer questions from the attendees.
