North Shore CDC to Host 11th Annual Polar Plunge

Calling the brave souls of Salem! We're hosting our Annual Polar Plunge on Super Bowl Sunday!

North Shore Community Development Coalition, in partnership with River House and the Salem Education Foundation, are set to host the 11th Annual Polar Plunge on February 5th, 2017. This event brings families, friends, and community members together to benefit the organization’s efforts to build affordable housing and strengthen communities in the North Shore. Brave souls of all ages are invited to take the plunge at either Woodbury Beach at Lynch Park in Beverly or Winter Island Park in Salem.

This event brings around 400 people to plunge each year on Super Bowl Sunday and it has become a tradition for Beverly and Salem public schools to compete for two traveling trophies — the Plunge Cup and the Big Splash Award. The Plunge Cup recognizes the school team that raises the most pledge donations and the Big Splash Award goes to the school with the highest percentage of school-wide participation.

“We’re always humbled by the community’s support during this event. It is because of their dedication and the enthusiasm from the public schools, the students, and their parents, that our event continues to be a success,” said Mickey Northcutt, CEO of North Shore CDC.
