Obituary: Alfredo E. "Papy" Zatorre, Holder of a U.S. Patent in Engineering

Member of the Spanish Lions Club and the Spanish Cultural Institute, the L.U.L.A.C. and the Portuguese American Club of Peabody.

Alfredo E. “Papy” Zatorre, 92, of Salem, beloved husband of Dominga (Barletta) Zatorre, died Tuesday, March 3rd, 2015 at Salem Hospital surrounded by his family.

Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, he was the son of the late Lucio and Berta (Veaute)Zatorre. He was raised and educated in Buenos Aires, Argentina and was a graduate of the University of LaPlata in Argentina. He continued his education earning his Master’s Degree in Engineering from the University of Massachusetts.

Mr. Zatorre had been employed with the Gillette Corporation for many years until the time of his retirement.

Alfredo and his family settled on the North Shore in 1967. They loved their new home and all that it offered. A very independent and creative man, Alfredo was the holder of a patent in engineering. He was a member of the Spanish Lions Club and the Spanish Cultural Institute, the L.U.L.A.C. and the Portuguese American Club of Peabody. He was dedicated to his wife and family above all else and will be deeply missed.

In addition to his loving wife of 67 years, Alfredo is survived by his daughter, Lillian N.Zatorre of Salem, his son, Robert J. Zatorre and his wife Virginia Penhune of Montreal, Canada, his grandchildren, Evan Zatorre of New York City and Alex Zatorre of Burlington, Vt.. He will also be remembered and missed by his loving extended family in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He was predeceased by his son Angel A. Zatorre and his four siblings.

ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral service will be held in The O’Donnell Funeral Home 46 Washington Sq., (At Salem Common) Salem, Saturday, March 7th at 1:30 P.M. Relatives and friends invited.
