Obituary: Catherine A. "Kay" (Williams) Pasternak, Teacher for Over 30 Years in Salem Public School

Catherine A. “Kay” (Williams) Pasternak, 90, of Salem, devoted wife of EdwinPasternak, died peacefully at the Kaplan Family Hospice House, Danvers, MA on January 2, 2015.

Kay graduated from Salem High School with the Class of 1941 and graduated Salem State College with the Class of 1945, earning a Bachelor of Science in Education (Commercial).

Kay was a commercial teacher and Department Head at the Yarmouth-Dennis Regional High School from 1945-1949. She worked at the Bowditch School for 15 years and retired from the Salem Middle School after a total of 32 years with the Salem School Department.

Kay was a devoted grandmother to CJ McCarthy and spent many years after school sharing stories and adventures, just like Auntie Mamie. Kay loved Big Band music and the beach, summers on Cape Cod, spending time at Secret Harbor, St. Thomas, USVI with Ed and family on April vacations, and traveling extensively after retirement with Ed.

Kay is survived by her devoted husband of 66 years, Edwin Walter Pasternak, her son, Robert E. Pasternak and his wife, Bernice A. (Bunnie) Pasternak, her daughter, Nancy A. McCarthy, and her beloved, only grandson, CJ McCarthy and his wife, Jenny McCarthy. .
