Obituary: Eleanor (Heeney) Dauphinee, Kind and Charitable Woman Who Believed in Giving Back to Her Community
Secretary in Salem State University's History Department For over 20 Years.

Eleanor (Heeney) Dauphinee, 95, of Salem, beloved wife of the late James “Scoop” Dauphinee, died Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at the Grosvenor Park Nursing Center, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Salem she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Catherine (Barrett) Heeney. Raised and educated in Salem, Eleanor was a graduate of the Salem Commercial School.

Mrs. Dauphinee had been employed by Salem State College (University) as a secretary in their History Department for over 20 years.
A lifelong resident of the City of Salem, Eleanor was a kind and charitable woman, who believed in giving back to her community, she devoted many hours volunteering for several worthwhile organizations including the Women’s Friend Society, Shaughnessy-Kaplan Auxiliary, the Peabody Museum and the former Essex Institute. She was a talented painter and gifted knitter, donating much of her work to the Immaculate Conception Church of which she was a member for most of her life.

A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Eleanor will be greatly missed by her family, friends and the lives of many whom she touched over the years.
Eleanor is survived by her daughter Sheila Gibson of Burlington, her son KevinDauphinee of Las Vegas, Nevada, her five grandchildren, Wendy Foster of Attleboro, David Gibson of Burlington, Stephen Gibson of Newton, NH, James Dauphinee and Thomas Dauphinee both of Oregon, five great-grandchildren, T.C. and Jordan Foster, and Diana and Victoria Gibson, and Lillian “Lily” Dauphinee, and her dear friend Cathy Almeda. She was also the sister of the late Jerome and Richard Heeney and Lillian McMurray.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her Funeral Service will be held in The O’Donnell Funeral Home, 46 Washington Sq., (at Salem Common) Salem on Friday, May 15th at 10 A.M. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 8:30 to 10 A.M. Relatives and friends invited. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Eleanor’s memory to The Plummer School for Boys, 37 Winter Island Rd., Salem, MA 01970.
