Obituary: Gladys M. (Rooney) Pigulski, Her Love For the Patriots Was Only Surpassed by Her Love For Her Grandchildren

Gladys M. (Rooney) Pigulski, 79, wife of Henry Pigulski, of Salem, died Saturday, April 10, 2015 at the Salem Hospital following a short illness.

Born in East Boston, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Jessie (Owocki) Rooney.

A resident of Salem for 34 years, she will be remembered as a devoted Wife, loving Mother, and endearing Grandmother. Her love for the Patriots was only surpassed by her love for her grandchildren.

Besides her husband, with whom she shared 59 years of marriage, she is survived by 5 children, Peter and his wife Sandra Pigulski of Peabody, Stephan and his wife Charlene Pigulski of Kingston, NH, Ann Pigulski of Dover, NH, Patrick Pigulski of Lynn, Kathleen and David Sylvanowicz of Byfield, 13 grandchildren, Peter, Brian, and Stephan Pigulski, Derek and Nicholas Pigulski, Allyson and Julie Matvichuk, Adam and Zoe Sylvanowicz, David, Belinda, Kelly Meehan and Vicki Blades. She is survived by one sister, Frances and her husband Raymond Gallagher of Salem and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Lucille Rooney.

Her funeral service will be held Thursday, April 16, 2015 at 9:45 am from the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 am at the St. Thomas the Apostle Church, North St., (Route 114), Salem at the Peabody line. Visiting hours are Wednesday, 4 to 7 pm. Burial is in St. Mary Cemetery, Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
