Obituary: Jack Richard Thompson Jr., 67, Was a Member of Salem Moose Lodge #218 for Many Years

Raised and educated in Salem, followed by a long U.S. Army career.

Booneville, Mo., Jack Richard Thompson, Jr., 67, died unexpectedly at his home in Booneville, Mo.

He was born in Sabattus, Maine to his parents Jack Richard Thompson, Sr. and Virginia Louise Thompson (Dearborn). Raised and educated in Salem he was a graduate of Salem High School. Upon graduation, Richard enlisted in the United States Army. He was dedicated to serving his country and protecting the Freedom of every American. He took great pride in his dutiful service to his beloved country.

During his 20 year career in the U.S. Army, he served in many different areas, jumped from many airplanes, saw many places all over the globe, and learned what honor, pride, and bravery is. He embraced all of it.

Following his honorable discharge from the Army, Jack founded his own domestic and industrial janitorial business out of his home.

He bowled in a few bowling leagues in the local area and was a member of the Salem Moose Lodge #218 for many years.

Jack is survived by his wife; Noreen Thompson (Letusky) of Boonville, Missouri. and his three daughters; Kim Shaw and her husband Ed Shaw of Salem, Kelly Raposo and her partner Jared Groves of Atkinson, N.H., and Kristi Thompsonof Salem, his five grandchildren and expecting one more. He also has five sisters, seven brothers, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 25 years Janice R. Thompson (Johnson), and three brothers, Robert Thompson, Arthur Thompson, Joel Thompson.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to his Funeral Service which will be held in The O’Donnell Funeral Home 46 Washington Sq., ( At Salem Common) Salem, Wednesday, Feb. 18th, at 1 P.M.
