Obituary: Lilly T. Ingemi, Longtime Member of the Sons of Italy Salem and Ladies Sodality

Communicant of the former St. Mary's Italian Church in Salem.

Lilly T. Ingemi (Santangelo) passed away at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers on February 27 at the age of 91 surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Caterina (Mazzeo)Santangelo. She was educated in Salem Public Schools and went on to work at Sylvania and Steve’s Quality Market for many years.

Wife of 58 years to the late John M. Ingemi, Lilly’s passions included gardening, shopping, knitting, cooking and spending time with her husband, family and dog, Sweetie. She was a 70 year member of the Sons of Italy Salem and Ladies Sodality. She was also a dedicated communicant of the former St. Mary’s Italian Church in Salem.

Loving mother of Kathleen J. Ingemi of Salem and Stephen S. Ingemi and his wife Sarah (Belanger) of Salem. Devoted sister of Esther Santangelo, Jennie Laverty (Santangelo) and her late husband Francis and the late Grace Santangelo. Dear grandmother of Jennifer Ingemi, Sarah Ferrara (Ingemi) and her husband John and great-grandmother of Jason Ferrara. Also survived by nephew Peter Laverty, as well as, many other nieces and nephews and caregivers Nellie O’Sullivan, Dominga Espinol and Anne Rose Alexander.

ARRANGEMENTS: Her Funeral will be held from The O’Donnell Funeral Home, 46 Washington Sq., (At Salem Common) Salem, Wednesday, March 4th at 9:15 A.M. followed by her funeral Mass in the Immaculate Conception Church, Hawthorne Blvd., Salem at 10:00 A.M. Relatives and friends invited. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. Visiting hours Tuesday, March 3rd from 3 to 7 P.M.
