Obituary: Margaret (Knight) Crean, Employed by the City of Salem School Department For Many Years

Margaret (Knight) Crean, age 96, of Salem, wife of the late Cornelius Crean, died at home on Saturday, January 31, 2015. Born in Boston the daughter of the late Francis J. and Ellen (Creamer) Knight, she was raised and educated in Somerville.

Margaret was employed by the City of Salem School Department for many years until her retirement.

She is survived by her children, Mary and her husband Gerald Charipar of Rochester, NY, Neil and his wife Cynthia Crean of Salem and Ann Harrison and her partner Brett Kirkpatrick of Salem; seven grandchildren Christine, Sarah, Rachel, Maureen, Kimberly, Amanda and Keith; six great grandchildren and twenty three nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by three brothers, Edmund, John, and Arthur Knight and two sisters, Eleanor Donohue and Dorothy Libardoni.

Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at 9:15 A.M. from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St. Salem to be followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 A.M. at St James Church 156 Federal St. Salem. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday from 4:00 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem.
