Obituary: Mary Eileen (Tierney) Dooling, She Was Dedicated to Her Family, and Was A Devout Catholic

She volunteered her time with Catholic Daughters of America, and was a former president of the organization.

Mary Eileen (Tierney) Dooling 94, of Salem, beloved wife of the late Charles F. Doolling, died May 30th, 2015 at Salem Hospital following a brief illness.

Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Bridget (McNulty) Tierney. She was raised and educated in Peabody and was a graduate of Peabody High School.

Mrs. Dooling had been employed with the former A.C. Lawrence Leather Company as a Bookkeeper, prior to her marriage. She was dedicated to her family and for many years her focus was providing a loving home for her loved ones.

A dedicated and devoted Catholic, Mary was a long time member of the St. Mary of the Annunciation Parish in Danvers. She was a member of the St. Mary’s Ladies Sodality and was a weekly communicant. She volunteered her time with Catholic Daughters of America and was a former President of the organization. Active in her family’s activities, Mary was a member of the Parent Teacher Association at Bishop Fenwick High School. She was devoted to her family and will be deeply missed.

Mary is survived by her daughter MaryEllen Dooling of Salem, her sister, Ann Burke and her husband John F. of Swampscott and many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. She was the mother of the late Charles Frederic “Freddy” Dooling Jr. and sister of the late Thomas, Albert, Robert, James, John and Helen Tierney.

ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral will be held from the Peterson-O’Donnell Funeral Home 167 Maple St., (rte 62) Danvers, Wednesday, June 3rd at 11:30 A.M. followed by her funeral Mass in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Margin St., Salem/Peabody line at 12 Noon Relatives and friends invited. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. Visiting hours prior to the funeral from 10 to 11:30 A.M.
