Obituary: Mary "Freda" (Gallant) Pelletier, Worked Behind the Counter at the Former Bowman's Bakery in Salem For 35 Years

Devoted to her family, she especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mary “Freda” (Gallant) Pelletier, 91 formerly of Salem, died, Sunday, May 31, 2015, at the Southern New Hampshire Medical Center in Nashua, following a long illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Alfred L. Pelletier with whom she had shared 50 years of marriage.

Born in St. Louis, Prince Edward Island, Canada she was the daughter of the late Alphe and Evelyn (Poirier) Gallant. Freda moved to Salem in the late 1940’s where she met Alfred and whom she married in 1950. For over 35 years she worked behind the counter at the former Bowman’s Bakery in Salem. Freda retired when the bakery closed.

Ever devoted to her family, she especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Freda was a member of the Salem Council on Aging and was an avid bingo fan. Following her stroke in 2010, she moved to New Hampshire, where she was a resident of the Greenbriar Nursing Home of Nashua.

She is survived by her daughters, Jean M. Konieczka and her husband Paul of Merrimack, NH, and Judy A. Jefferson and her husband Ronald J. of Naples, FL, a son Robert L. Pelletier and his wife Julie of Montague, MA, 9 grandchildren, Matthew, Corey, & Daniel Konieczka, Ronald, Katie & Laura Jefferson, Erin Pelletier, Jason Hair and Tiffany Carner, as well as 5 great-grandchildren, Annie, Ryan, Harper, Liam and Camryn. She was predeceased by her sister, M. Roseline Plamondon.
