Obituary: Mary T. Wilson, Member of The House of the Seven Gables Settlement Association

Member of the Salem Garden Club and The Ste. Anne's Church Choir.

Mary T. Wilson, 91, passed away peacefully at her beloved home on February 16, 2015, surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late William A. Wilson.

Born in Danvers on July 5, 1923, she was the daughter of James J. and Cecelia A. Gaffney. She was a graduate of Danvers High School and Simmons College.

Mary’s passion was children, and in addition to her own children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, she provided childcare to many. She was an accomplished pianist, whose love of music was generously shared with her family. Sewing was also one of Mary’s many creative talents.

She was a member of The House of the Seven Gables Settlement Association, where she did flower arranging for many years, the Salem Garden Club and The Ste. Anne’s Church Choir.

Mary is survived by her six children: Suzanne Gannon, and her husband Richard, Carol Haskell, and her husband William “Skip”, Kristine Wilson, Robyn Kanter and her husband Richard, William R. “Rick” Wilson, Kathleen McCarthy and her husband Robert, and dearest friend, Betty Rea. She also leaves her seven grandchildren; Alison Gannon Worth, Nicholas Gannon, Rachel Kanter Barstow, William Benjamin Haskell, Whitney Haskell, William McCarthy and Jack McCarthy, as well as five great grandchildren: Henry, Angus, John, Meredith and Helen. She is also survived by her bother Kevin Gaffney, and wife Hope and sister Joanne MacDonald and husband Roderick. She was pre deceased by her four brothers, James, Gerard, Thomas and Robert Gaffney and her sister-in-law, Mary C. Wilson.

The family would like to thank Dr. Stephen Saltzman, North Shore Elder Services, Care Dimensions, Associated Home Care, Emily Rolinger, and Hannah, Noel, Alyssa and Linda for helping Mary stay in her home. A resident of Salem Willows for 67 years,Mary also appreciated all her kind and caring neighbors.

ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral will be held from The O’Donnell Funeral Home 46 Washington Sq., (At Salem Common) Salem, Saturday, Feb. 21st at 10 A.M. followed by her funeral Mass in Ste. Anne’s Church, Jefferson Ave., Salem at 10:30 A.M. Relatives and friends invited. Burial in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem. Visiting hours Friday from 4 to 8 P.M.
