Obituary: Mary A. Toomey, Dedicated Employee of Pequot Mills in Salem and the George Pickering Oil Co. of Salem For Over 26 Years

She attended the former St. Mary's Grammar School in Salem and was a graduate of Salem Commercial High School.

Mary A. Toomey, 97, of Danvers, formerly of Salem, died Thursday, Feb. 5th, 2015 at Salem hospital following a brief illness.

Born in Marblehead, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Annie (Slaven)Toomey. She was raised and educated in Salem. She attended the former St. Mary’s Grammar School in Salem and was a graduate of Salem Commercial High School.

Mary was a dedicated employee of Pequot Mills in Salem and the George Pickering Oil Company of Salem for over 26 years until the time of her retirement.

A longtime resident of the City of Salem, Mary was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Salem. Her out going nature endeared her to many people throughout the course of her life. She gained friends where ever she went and enjoyed spending her time with her family and friends. She enjoyed crafts was an avid knitter and especially enjoyed dinning out with family and friends. Her family and friends where her greatest blessing in life. She will be deeply missed.

Mary is survived by her nieces, Susan Namet and her husband David of Swampscott and Kathleen Goyette and her husband Donald of Georgetown, her nephew, MichaelToomey of Byfield, her six grand nieces and nephews and one great grandnephew. She was the sister of the late Katherine Doherty and Joseph and Edward Toomey.

ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral will be held from The O’Donnell Funeral Home 46 Washington Sq., (At Salem Common) Salem, Wednesday, Feb. 11th, at 10:45 A.M. followed by her funeral Mass in the Immaculate Conception Church, Hawthorne Blvd., Salem at 11 A.M.. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hour prior to the funeral from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M.. In lieu of flowers, expression of sympathy may be made in Mary’s memory to the Plummer Home for Boys, 37 Winter Island Rd., Salem, MA 01970.
