Obituary: Stefan K. Celo, Master Pastry Chef
Raised and educated in Istanbul, Turkey, and immigrated to the United States in 1967.

Stefan K. Celo, 78, loving husband of Elefteriya “Niki” (Sumerbas) Celo, died at his residence with his family by his side on Wednesday, February 25, 2015.
Stefan was born in Albania, on February 1, 1937, son of Kristostom and Anastasia (Korovesi) Celo. He was raised and educated in Istanbul, Turkey and immigrated to the United States in 1967 making his home in Salem.

Stefan became a Master Pastry Chef and began his career at the Hawthorne by the sea Restaurant in Swampscott. From 1976 to 1992, he was the owner of Stefan’s Pastry Shop in Lynn specializing in wedding cakes and bringing much joy and happiness too many couples on their wedding day. Many will remember him for baking the best Cheese cake on the North Shore. Stefan was member of St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church in Peabody, and following his retirement in 1992 he and his wife Niki traveled extensively, and as a hobby he enjoyed gardening.
In addition to his wife Niki with whom he shared 47 years of marriage, he is survived by a sister Meri Kono of Omaha, NE; his extended family, George and Loula Kritopoulos, and Sandra and Matthew Nocivelli and their children Brianna, Alexandria, and Christopher of Salem; a niece, 2 nephews and many friends. He was predeceased by a sister Lirri Celo.

His family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, February 28, 2015 from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. His funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m. at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, 7 Paleologos St., Peabody. The family requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made in Stefan’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, www.stjude.org , 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
