William George Raynes, 89, of Salem, beloved husband of Laura Katherine (McCarthy) Raynes, died, Sunday Morning April 12, 2015. He was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of Salem high School.
An honorably discharged veteran, William served his country as a member of the United States Navy during World War II.

Mr. Raynes had been employed for many years as technician with the New England Telephone Company, both in the Lynn and Rockport area, until the time of his retirement.
A loving husband, William enjoyed spending his time golfing. He was a long time member of Salem Municipal Golf Course and enjoyed playing a round of golf with his friends. He will be deeply missed.

William is survived by his beloved wife, Laura Katherine (McCarthy) Raynes of Salem, his sister, Joan Gilligan of Beverly and 21 nieces and nephews and many great nieces and great nephews. He was also the brother of the late Mary Stenberg, Sally Dzikiewicz, Carol Marler, Robert Raynes and Henry Raynes.
