SALEM, MA — The Peabody Essex Museum will open for the first time in 2022 on Saturday.

The nation's oldest museum had extended its holiday closure amid the recent spike in coronavirus cases. Its reopening Saturday is in conjunction with the first day that all bars, restaurants, gyms, museums and other entertainment venues will require proof of vaccination for entry.

Salem also has a mask mandate for all indoor public spaces — which also applies to the museum.
