Police: Man Threatened to Kill His Neighbors
The following was provided by the Salem Police Department. Where charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The responded to the following calls on Wednesday and Thursday.
Wednesday, March 28
4:23 p.m. — Skateboarders on the second and third floors of the Museum Place parking garage were reported, but police said they were not able to locate them.
4:54 p.m. — A generator and a dolly were reported stolen from a building on Leval Road.
5:48 p.m. — A past assault was reported on Palmer Street.
6:03 p.m. — Larceny was reported on Leggs Hill Road. A man told police he took off his watch between 5 and 5:15 p.m. while playing basketball and then realized it was missing.
9:03 p.m. — Unlawful entry to a basement was reported on Park Street. A man said National Grid had been at a residence sometime that morning to shut off gas to one of the tenants in the building. National Grid has a key, but drilled out the lock to get instead, police said. The man said this has happened before to one of his other properties, and he wanted the incident documented.
10:10 p.m. — Suspicious people in the parking lot on Commercial Street were reported. When police arrived, the caller said he had been informed two people were in the lot, but they fled in a white van when they were seen. Police said it was too dark to notice anything on the security tape.
Wednesday Arrests
Mark Bruce Astroff, 60, of 18 Noble Hill Road, in Beverly, was arrested on a disorderly conduct charge.
Benjamin Antho Diiorio, 57, of 37 Belleview Ave., was arrested a charge of attempted murder and two charges of domestic assault and battery.
Daniel Ivan Moya, 18, of 6 Park St., was arrested on a warrant.
Roland Carl Nadeau, 56, of 51 Valiant Way, was arrested on a domestic assault and battery charge.
Edward Narvaez, 40, of 14 Tidd St., in Swampscott, was arrested on a warrant.
Thursday, March 29
12:54 a.m. — Loud bangs in the area were reported on Glover Street, but police said they were not able to find anything.
1:26 a.m. — A person possibly inside a Lafayette Street home was reported. While on the second floor, a woman said she heard someone walking around downstairs. Police searched the home, but they were not able to find anyone. The woman was advised to call police if she hears the noises again.
1:46 a.m. — While on patrol, officers said they saw people in a lot with flashlights on Bridge Street. The light was a cellphone and not a flashlight, police said. No damage was found to any of the vehicles, and the person was just looking at cars.
8:26 a.m. — A past motor vehicle break-in with malicious damage was reported at Congress and Palmer streets. The woman told police she came to her vehicle that morning and found that the rear windshield and a window were smashed. "The front seat and the back seats were slashed and torn apart," police said, and "the dashboard and stereo area were also damaged and a rear-view mirror torn off." The woman told police she said wasn't having trouble with anyone, and she did not know why her vehicle was targeted. Police said nothing was printable "as everything looks like it was struck with a blunt object and damaged." Police said there are no suspects or witnesses.
9:31 a.m. — Police responded to North Street on a report of a dispute between neighbors. The officer spoke with two men who live on the first floor. Police said the men told them they recently spoke with the landlord and requested that he speak with tenants on the second floor about keeping the noise level down to a reasonable level. On Thursday morning, the two men said a tenant from the second floor came downstairs pounding on the door and yelling and screaming that the landlord was evicting him and it was because of the first-floor tenants. The man allegedly said "he was going to make his last 30 days in the house horrible" for the downstairs tenants. The men also told police the upstairs tenant said "you're dead, I'm going to kill you!" The men said they don't want to press charges. Police told the upstairs tenant to speak with his landlord about his eviction and not the downstairs tenants.
10:15 a.m. — Police responded to Derby Street on a call about a break-in attempt.
12:15 p.m. — Possible drugs at the were reported. A court officer told police he found a gum pack with six small marijuana cigarettes in it. Police said they were not able to find the owner, and the cigarettes were taken to be destroyed.
12:38 p.m. — Police said the helped unlock two kids from a car on First Street.
2:09 p.m. — Possible fraud was reported on Cedar Street.
2:42 p.m. — Graffiti was reported on Bridge Street.

Thursday Arrest
John B Lefave, 53, of 155 Fort Ave., was arrested on three warrants. He was also arrested on the following seven charges: operating a vehicle with a revoked license, a red light or stop sign violation, speeding, a marked lanes violation, passing where prohibited, operating a vehicle negligently with potential to endanger and failing to stop for police.
