Police: Pedestrian Struck, Purse Found Under Snow, Vehicles Towed For Hydrant Parking Violations

Monday, March 9
At 6:34 p.m., purse found on Fort Avenue. Employee contracted to remove snow in the area of Salem Willows, found a brown Aldo purse that contained two licenses and $251 cash. Owner of the purse contacted.
At 7:58 p.m., possible break in progress on Essex Street. Investigated; turned out to be a locksmith contacted by management to replace locks on an apartment.

At 9:15 p.m., pedestrian accident on Lafayette Street. Man struck by a vehicle while crossing Lafayette Street from Clifton Avenue. Victim said he fell down, but was not injured. The vehicle owner said she did not see the man because the roadway was dark, and man was wearing a black jacket and dark pants. Victim refused medical attention. Driver issued a citation for failure to stop while a pedestrian was in a crosswalk.
At 9:58 p.m., hazard on Porter Street and Cherry Street. Vehicle blocking the hydrant was towed.

At 11:28 p.m., noise complaint on Swampscott Road. Contractor removing snow advised to stop.
Tuesday, March 10
At 1:26 a.m., parking complaint on Hancock Street. Two vehicles tagged and towed for hydrant parking violations.
At 8:04 a.m., car struck fire hydrant on Webb Street and Boardman Street. Motorist said the snowbank obstructed his view when turning onto Boardman Street. Vehicle sustained a flat tire. Hydrant was minimally damaged.
At 8:55 a.m., lost citizenship papers and passport reported lost on Charter Street.
At 8:59 a.m., motor vehicle accident on Lafayette Street and Hancock Street. No injuries. Citation issued for failure to yield right of way.
At 10:37 a.m., vehicle blocking hydrant on Washington Street and Ropes Street. Vehicle tagged and towed.
At 12:36 p.m., suspicious vehicle on Bridge Street in area of Planters Street. Motor vehicle blocking garage. Vehicle stolen out of Beverly. Owner contacted. No damage to vehicle.
At 1:38 p.m., past attempt breaking and entering on Marlborough Road. Glass window in side door was broken. It appeared that no entry was gained into the house.
At 3:54 p.m., snow removal violations in Blaney Street lot. Five vehicles towed.
