Police: Prostitution Arrest After 22-Year-Old Woman Made Arrangements to Exchange Sex For Money With Undercover Detective; Man Scammed For Over $1,000 in Craigslist Transaction; Officers Nab Erratic, Wrong-Way Dirt Bike Driver

Wednesday, May 20
At 4:02 p.m., suspicious activity on North Street. Woman reported that a man wearing a white shirt and shorts knocked on her door claiming to be from National Grid. The man asked for a copy of her utility bill so he could attempt to save her money. The woman told him she was not interested, and asked him to leave. The man left.
At 4:20 p.m., fraud on Beacon Street. Man reported that he placed an ad on Craigslist fo sell a television. He was contacted by text from a party named “Scott Parker: who expressed interest in the television. After texts were exchanged, it was agreed that “Parker” would buy the television for $775. “Parker” sent a check to USAA Federal Savings Bank in San Antonio, Texas, in the amount of $1,850, and then sent a text stating he had made a mistake. The reporting party agrees to cash the check and send the additional $1,075 to another address. He then received a text from “Parker” stating his grandson had been rushed to the hospital and he did not want to buy the television. “Parker” asked for the $775 to be returned, and that’s when the reporting party saw the $1,850 was missing from the account. Officer advised the man to stop dealing through Craigslist and make all further purchases in person.

At 5:45 p.m., arrest on Washington Street. After an investigation into prostitution in the area, Salem detectives arrested Kaitlin E. Harvey, 22, of Salem, for prostitution, after she made arrangements to exchange sex for money with an undercover detective.
At 6:17 p.m., lost passport on Heritage Drive.

At 6:27 p.m., arrest of a juvenile on New Derby Street after a foot chase.
At 7:00 p.m., erratic operation of a dirt bike on Loring Avenue in the area of Paradise Road. Officer was driving on Summer and High streets when he saw a man driving a green dirt bike the wrong way on a one-way street. The man drove up on the curb, and then down Summer Street to Jefferson Avenue. Mark A. Odain, 19, of Hyde Park, was arrested and charged with failure to stop for police, two counts; operating a motor vehicle recless to endanger, two counts; exceeding posted speed in a residential area,, two counts; failure to wear motorcycle eye protection; one-way sign violation; marked lanes violation; red light violation; operating without a license; uninsured motor vehicle; and resisting arrest.
At 7:50 p.m., neighbor dispute on First Street.
At 8:35 p.m., fireworks complaint on Cedarcrest Avenue.
Thursday, May 21
At 4:46 .m., parking complaint on Heritage Drive. Four vehicles tagged for parking within four-feet of private driveway.
At 10:00 a.m., motor vehicle stop on Wilson Street. Plate confiscated; citation issued.
