Police Say Truck Driver Who Snarled Salem Traffic Was Drunk

Traffic backed up into Danvers for more than four hours Wednesday.

SALEM, MA -- Police are charging Gustavo Flores, 57, of East Boston, with drunk driving, speeding, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and marked lanes violations. Flores rolled over the produce company box truck he was driving around 2 pm on Route 114, an accident that snarled traffic for more than four hours along the busy roadway.

Flores allegedly crossed two lanes of oncoming traffic and nearly hit two cars before the truck toppled onto an embankment near the High Street overpass. Salem fire fighters had to remove the truck's windshield to free the driver, according to the Salem News, which first reported this story.
