Police: Stolen Jeans; Knock it Off; Kicking Cars

Excerpts from the Salem Police Department log.

Sunday, Dec. 13

At 3:55 a.m., police responded to a hotel at Washington Square for a report of a loud wedding party in a room. Officers heard a mild amount of noise from outside the door. They advised those who were not registered to the hotel room to leave the room.

At 5:40 p.m., there was a report of a shoplifter at a store on Essex Street.

At 5:46 p.m., there was a motor vehicle accident at Boston and Aborn Streets.

At 7:15 p.m., seven pairs of jeans were reported stolen from a dryer at a laundromat on Canal Street. Management was contacted to see if there was video of the incident.

At 7:46 p.m., there was a report of a breaking and entering to a motor vehicle on Cherry Street.

At 9:29 p.m., two people were locked inside the gate at a storage facility on Goodhue Street.

Monday, Dec. 14

At 3:32 a.m., there was a report of a disturbance on Cypress Street. A man stated that he let his friend stay over the night, but they started arguing and he asked her to leave. The woman continued to yell at him while she was waiting for a taxi.

At 5:20 a.m., there was a report of a dog barking on Cabot Street.

At 9:50 a.m., there was a motor vehicle accident at Essex and Washington Streets.

At 10:57 a.m., there was a report of three undesirables asking people for money behind fire headquarters. Police located one person and asked him if he was asking for money. The man said he was only walking through the parking lot. The officer advised him “if he was asking for people for money in an aggressive manner to knock it off.”

At 6:04 p.m., there was a report of an undesirable running around on New Derby Street and kicking cars. The man was determined to be highly intoxicated and was placed in protective custody.
