Porchfest Set For This Weekend In South Salem

SALEM, MA — Salem's first Porchfest is scheduled for Sunday in South Salem, where neighborhood porches are set to become stages for a free music festival running from noon to 8 p.m.

The festival will take place primarily off Forest Avenue, with locations across South Salem.

Salem Porchfest is designed as a community-powered event built around live music and neighborhood participation. A group of roughly 30 locals is organizing the event, set to bring dozens of musicians and acts to porches and front perches along the south side of the Witch City.

The event is free, and organizers are seeking donations to help pay for equipment, printing, banners, volunteer needs and rental equipment.

The donations ae intended to help make Salem's first Porchfest "a safe, unique, vibrant, and community-building event."

"Your support helps us bring live music back to Salem and supports our local music scene," organizers said.

Organizers say the goal is to create an event for neighbors, musicians and visitors.
