Project Will Improve Access, Parking At Salem Hospital
North Shore Medical Center said work on the improvements will last nine months.
From NSMC: North Shore Medical Center (NSMC) will begin a construction project next week that will transform the main entrance of NSMC’s Salem Campus and greatly improve the parking and access into the hospital along Highland Avenue. The main entrance (Davenport 4) will be closed for the first six months of this nine-month project and NSMC is providing additional support services to help patients and visitors navigate the campus during this time.

adding patient and visitor parking spots, improving traffic flow patterns and enhancing landscaping with trees and additional signage. Upon completion in January 2020, NSMC will have added 55 new parking spaces. During construction, patients will be directed to enter the facility through alternative entrances and should allow extra time to get to their appointments. Parking areas will be reconfigured and NSMC has added valet parking services and parking assistants to welcome and assist guests. Valet parking at the campus is free.

Greeters will also be stationed at key entry and access points to the hospital to help patients locate their destinations and NSMC is adding exterior and interior signage to help guide patients and visitors while they are on the campus. The front entrance construction project complements another major project underway on the NSMC Salem Campus. The new expanded Emergency Department and Epstein Center for Behavior Health are part of a $207 million project slated to open in October 2019. The Epstein Center will be a state-of-the-art, 120-bed facility, enabling NSMC to meet the need for mental health and substance abuse treatments on the North Shore.
