Revised Salem Lifebridge Expansion Proposal Set For Public Forum

A community meeting is scheduled for the Community Life Center on Wednesday for new expansion plans to address concerns about the project.

SALEM, MA — Revised plans for the expansion of the Lifebridge campus in downtown Salem will be the subject of a public forum set for the Community Life Center on Wednesday night.

Haborlight Community Partners said the changes involve St. Mary's Italian Church, the adjacent park and the neighborhood landscape around the homeless shelter, and are in response to public concerns raised at the initial presentation for plans to expand the center and add apartments this summer.

The expansion was designed to improve the conditions for those living in the shelter, as well as add senior housing units in the city. However, following the initial public pushback, a scaled-back version of the expansion will now be pitched and revealed at the public meeting.
