Run / Walk for the Beach – A Green 5K for Clean Water

The 2017 Race For Salem Sound Kicks off on June 11!

The 8th Annual Run/Walk for the beach on Sunday, June 11, is a green road race for an environmental cause. It starts at 10 am at Dane Street Beach in Beverly. This is a “green” road race for an environmental cause—clean water and marine habitats.

Proceeds benefit Salem Sound Coastwatch, local nonprofit environmental organization working to make the North Shore’s coastal waters clean and safe.

Register online at NorthShoreTiming.com or download a mail-in registration form at www.salemsound.org. There is a five dollar discount on all entry fees for students and military.

New this year—a team competition and a stroller division! There will be chip timing, ocean themed age group awards, food and music. The scenic course goes past Hospital Point and includes ocean views.

This is a festive, family-friendly event at a beautiful park with a sandy beach, grassy picnic area, restrooms and a brand new ocean themed playground for kids.

Support a great cause! Proceeds will be used for water quality and salt marsh monitoring, training “Adopt a Beach” volunteers to identify sources of pollution, and teaching and inspiring school age children to become stewards of the coastal environment.

Everything at this event will be recycled or composted.
