Salem Academy Senior Named To Gov. Maura Healey's Youth Council
Madeleine Lucas is one of 60 young adults ages 16 to 21 to be named to the Council statewide.

SALEM, MA — Salem Academy senior Madeleine Lucas will serve a two-year appointment on Gov. Maura Healey's Youth Advisory Council helping advise the administration on issues ranging from education to civic engagement to climate action to mental health awareness.
Lucas was one of 60 young adults ages 16 to 21 across appointed to the Council.
"I am passionate about making a difference in my community and addressing the pressing issues facing our generation," Lucas said. "This appointment provides an incredible opportunity to amplify the voices of young people and drive positive change in Massachusetts."

Lucas has demonstrated exceptional leadership skills and a strong commitment to civic engagement during her time at Salem Academy. She is a high honor roll student who is a member of the National Honor Society.
She is also captain of the swim team, was named Northeast Conference Swimmer of the Year, and has worked with the school administration to improve student access to period products on campus as part of her Senior Service-Learning project.

Lucas is also a swim instructor, lifeguard and coach who intends to swim collegiately at Smith College next year.
"Her passion, commitment, and unique perspective will be invaluable in the work to address the challenges and opportunities facing young people across our Commonwealth," Salem Academy Executive Director Stephanie Callahan said.
