Salem Adds 18 New Bluebikes, Three Additional Stations In Expansion
New stations will open in June in Vinnin Square, Bridge Street Neck, and on Derby Street.

SALEM, MA — Salem is expanding its Bluebikes bike share program to include 18 more bikes and three new rental stations.
The new stations will open in June in Vinnin Square, Bridge Street Neck and Derby Street.
The city said a Boston Region Metropolitan Planning Organization Community Connections grant is helping support the expansion.

"This bikeshare expansion builds upon the work over several years to become a 'car choice' community with several good transportation options that make driving an option and not a necessity," Salem Mayor Dominick Pangallo said. "The bikeshare program is a healthy and convenient way for residents, workers, students, and visitors to get around Salem. It is a zero-emissions mode of travel that supports our climate goals.
"And the program bolsters the local economy by providing a way for customers to reach local shops and restaurants regardless of traffic congestion and limited car parking."

The city said the Salem Bluebikes system has been used 17,000 times since its launch in 2021 with single-use rides and membership programs that includes access to bikes in Salem, Boston and 11 other Greater Boston communities.
Discounts are available for income-eligible riders.
