Salem Man Revived After Being Found Unresponsive In Apartment Fire

UPDATE: Salem crews responded to the fire on Lafayette Street Friday morning and found the man unconscious and not breathing.

SALEM, MA — A man is conscious but in serious condition, after Salem crews found him unresponsive in a Lafayette Street fire on Friday morning.

Salem police said the man was rushed to Mass General Hospital after firefighter efforts were able to revive him at the scene.

Crews pulled the unconscious man, who was not breathing, from a first-floor unit in the apartment building, according to Salem police at about 6 a.m.

Emergency services reports on social media said the first was in a four-story brick building and reached two alarms.

The fire was knocked down quickly and contained to the first-floor apartment.

Police said there were no other injuries and that the tenants in the other 14 apartments were able to return to their homes.
