Salem-based NSMC Honors Nurses

From North Shore Medical Center: North Shore Medical Center (NSMC) recently honored nine of its registered nurses and caregivers for outstanding service and clinical excellence at a ceremony at the Waterfront Hotel in Salem in May.

"I’m very proud the nine award winners and all of our nurses. Their ability to provide high quality care in a compassionate and caring manner is a testament to their skill and professionalism,” says Kevin J. Inman, R.N., M.S.N., Senior Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer. “They demonstrate the best qualities of our NSMC nurses, providing mentorship and serving as role models for their peers.”

The Broadhead Clinical Excellence Award

• Erlinda Dofitas, R.N. – NSMC Salem Hospital, Davenport 5, resides in Lynn.
• Eileen Morris, R.N. – NSMC Salem Hospital, Pacemaker Clinic, resides in Wenham.

The Broadhead Clinical Excellence Award is given in honor of Eleanor Broadhead, who
endowed the Broadhead Program for Excellence in Nursing in 1995 in memory of her sister,
Elizabeth, who volunteered as a nurse during World War II. Recipients are recognized for
achievements in clinical nurse practice, professional development and promotion of NSMC’s
patient care mission. The Broadhead Award was presented to two NSMC Salem Hospital
nurses this year.

NSMC Nursing Leadership Award

• Madonna Cruz, R.N. – NSMC Salem Hospital, Davenport 8, resides in Salem.
• Stephanie Ferraro, R.N. – NSMC Salem Hospital, Psychiatry Clinic, resides in Salem.

NSMC Nursing Leadership Award honors NSMC nurse mangers who exemplify
professionalism in nursing and advance the organizational values of patient care quality and
employee satisfaction through their managerial and leadership skills.

Donald W. Blodgett Exemplary Service Award

• Michelle Oliver, PCA – NSMC Salem Hospital, Davenport 9, resides in Lynn.
• Erin Yates, PCA – NSMC Salem Hospital Float, resides in Salem.
• Myra Alimagno, R.N. – NSMC Salem Hospital, Davenport 8, resides in Salem.
• Kelly Rehman, R.N. – NSMC Salem Hospital, Davenport 9, resides in Andover.

Nominated by their peers, the recipients of the 12th annual Donald W. Blodgett Exemplary
Service Award demonstrate extraordinary service to their patients, families and nursing
colleagues. This award honors the late Donald W. Blodgett, who served as an NSMC trustee
for 30 years.

2019 Preceptor of the Year Award

• Caitlin Conners, R.N. – NSMC Salem Hospital Emergency Department, resides in Danvers.

This is NSMC’s first year presenting the Preceptor of the Year Award. This award is
designed to recognize a nurse who exemplifies the qualities and characteristics of a
preceptor, mentor, and teacher. The individuals in this award category were nominated by
the new graduate nurses.
