Salem-Based Sustainable Grocer Will Close This Summer
Milk & Honey Green Grocer's owner said staffing issues and increasing costs factored in the decision to close the eight-year-old business.

SALEM, MA -- Staffing issues and rising costs will force Milk & Honey Green Grocer, a sustainable grocery store in Salem, to close at the end of July. In a Facebook post, owner Sharon Driscoll said because of "my unwillingness to compromise on quality and sustainability, I can no longer run Milk and Honey as I originally dreamed back in 2010." Milk & Honey plans to continue business as usual throughout June and will begin scaling back operations in July.
Milk & Honey is located at 32 Church Street. It uses small-scale distributors and offers salads, sandwiches, prepared foods, and grocery items with a focus on locally-sourced foods.
"Over these past 8 years, I have tried to hold Milk and Honey to a standard and vision that I believe in," Driscoll said. "I feel we brought something special and unique to downtown Salem and had good run."
