SALEM, MA — The Salem Academy Charter Lower School will be looking for a new principal this spring after Matthew Chuchul told staff last week he will be leaving at the end of the school year.

Chuchul, who came to the school as a teacher in 2013 and has been the principal since 2109, said he will be returning to New York to be closer to his family.

"Over the past eight years, I have had the opportunity as a teacher, as a coach, and as a principal to work within a school community dedicated to doing what is right by our students and our families," Chuchul said. "It is difficult to make the choice to leave this wonderful community, but I am excited about what this school will continue to do in the years to come."
