Salem Christmas Tree Bonfire At Dead Horse Beach Canceled
The event has been scheduled to return to the beach Thursday after a 2021 coronavirus hiatus but was canceled within days of the bonfire.
SALEM, MA — The annual Salem Christmas tree bonfire at Dead Horse Beach is off for a second consecutive year.
The city has planned to bring back the bonfire this week where residents could bring their trees for a community bonfire at the Salem Willows beach. No reason was given for the abrupt cancellation, but it comes within the surge in coronavirus cases that has caused some municipal events to be canceled, postponed or sent virtual in recent weeks.
Trees will still be picked up curbside through Jan. 14 with residents asked to remove all decorations and lights from the tree before putting it out on the curb.
