Salem Cybersecurity Firm, Steel Root, Cracks Inc. 5000 List

SALEM, MA (August 26, 2021) – Steel Root, a leading cybersecurity company that provides security and compliance services for the U.S. Defense Industrial Base, announced that it has earned the rank of No. 763 on the Inc. 5000 list of the fastest-growing private companies in America.

Steel Root achieved three-year revenue growth of 647% from 2017 to 2020, well above the median three-year growth of 167% among the 5,000 companies on the list. Steel Root also ranked 13th nationally in the Security category, a notable showing against some industry heavyweights.

While the company’s strategic vision and hard work played integral roles in achieving the impressive growth rate, the rising demand for cybersecurity services across every industry – particularly over the past year, owing in part to high-profile data breaches and escalating stakes in cybercrime – helped fuel the company’s growth.

To qualify for the Inc 5000, companies must have been founded and generating revenue by March 31, 2017. They must be U.S.-based, privately held, for-profit, and independent – not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies – as of December 31, 2020. The minimum revenue required for 2020 is $2 million.

Not only have the companies on the Inc. 5000 been very competitive within their markets, but this year’s list also proved especially resilient and flexible given the past year’s unprecedented challenges. Together, these companies added more than 2,500,000 jobs over the past three years.
