This year's shuttles will run for three weekends instead of the two previously.

SALEM, MA — Salem is expanding its free weekend shuttle service around the city for October 2021.
The service will run three weekends this year beginning Oct. 16 after running for two weekends in previous years. Shuttles will run between 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. from the free satellite lots at Salem State University, Salem High School and Jefferson Avenue behind Salem Hospital to downtown Salem.
The parking lots have 800 spots between them.

Mayor Kim Driscoll said since the program launched in 2017 it has saved about 4,100 people from driving to the downtown area.
"While a lot of visitors use the shuttle, we also see many Salem residents use it to easily get to and from downtown Salem on October weekends," she said. "I encourage everyone planning a visit to Salem this October to make use of the free satellite parking lots and this shuttle service."
