Salem Fatal Wrong-Way Crash On Highland Avenue
Multiple reports said two people - a wrong-way driver and his passenger - were killed in the multi-vehicle crash shortly after 4 p.m.
SALEM, MA — Highland Avenue remained closed to traffic early Wednesday night following a fatal crash late in the afternoon.
Salem police said two people were killed in the wrong-way crash Wednesday shortly after 4 p.m. The wrong-way driver hit multiple cars.
Multiple reports said that the driver of the car and one of his passengers were the ones killed.

Salem police said both lanes reopened as of about 8 p.m.
"Salem and State police are responding to a major car collision on Highland Avenue," Salem police said at about 7 p.m. "Highland Avenue is closed in both directions from Marlborough Road to Ravenna Avenue.

"Avoid the area and seek alternate routes as necessary. Follow detours as directed by police."
Multiple reports said at least one other person was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
