The City Council and School Committee will hold a joint session to fill the seat Jim Fleming resigned from after nearly 20 years on May 1.
SALEM, MA — Salem should have a new representative on the School Committee early next week.
The City Council and School Committee will meet in a joint session on May 1 to pubicly interview candidates and vote on a replacement for Jim Fleming, who resigned from the School Committee after nearly 20 years earlier this month because he is moving out of the city.
The person chosen to fill the vacancy will fill out the remainder of what would have been Fleming's term.

The joint meeting will be held starting at 6 p.m. in Council Chambers at 93 Washington Street. Those who cannot attend in person can attend virtually via Zoom here.
